We’re very excited to introduce the Portuguese label Wolf & Rita on the blog with you today since we are totally blown away by their new collection. Have you seen that chili pepper dress?!
Their SS14 collection is called ‘A song for a perfect summer’, a vibrant mix of prints and patterns with chillies, flowers, birds and stripes…
We love Wolf & Rita and that’s why we interviewed their designer Claudia to find out a little bit more about their brand.
How would you describe your brand?
Wolf & Rita is a new brand that takes special care and attention to small details. We think that the garments must be made with love (from the design to the choice of fabrics and the manufacturing. Wolf & Rita is a brand for parents and children focused on details and quality.
What is the inspiration behind your SS14 collection?
The inspiration for this collection was Devendra Banhart singing Summertime, an original by George Gershwin. For this season we created a colorful collection composed both by plain and printed fabrics and aiming to create a perfect balance: very simple and straight cut shirts made of printed fabrics, mixed with well-designed and beautifully shaped shirts in plain fabrics. We added to the collection one skirt and one pair of trousers in order to make the complete look. Green, beige, birds and strong red chilli peppers mixed with denim in a collection composed of shirts, blouses, collars, skirts and trousers.
What is your favorite piece from the collection?
Thit is a difficult question, because each piece is special for me. The one that seemed to make most success was the dress CRISTINA in the chilli print.
Do you have children? How does that influence your work?
I’m Claudia, the designer and I don’t have any children yet, there is one on the way!
But my sister has two kids and yes, they influence my work. Not only they inspire me to create beautiful clothes that I want to see them dressed with but also they inspired the name of the brand: Wolf is their surnames and Rita is the name of the little girl.
What are the most rewarding and most challenging aspects of your job?
Just the fact of having people buying our clothes is rewarding. Then you see people talking about Wolf & Rita on blogs and magazines, and you have styles going out of stock on the first selling week. It is very rewarding.
The biggest challenge is achieving the same on each collection I make.
How would you describe your own personal style?
I love basics. Regarding colours, I tend to wear black, grey, beige, navy. But I always have some special detail, being on the clothes or on the accessories.
