JE SUIS EN CP!

Simple and timeless designs that are enhanced by refined materials. J’aime the SS15 collection of the Parisian brand Je suis en CP!

The rich and happy colours blend harmoniously with the softer shades and floral prints the brand cherishes so much. This fresh and fun collection includes this seasons’s essential accessories : bow ties, peaked hats, small handbags and irresistible floral headbands.

The brand, created in 2009 by Céline Prost, offers a beautiful line of clothing with a retro-chic feel and only works with top-quality fabrics. The collection, which is created in the brand’s Parisian atelier, sets itself apart thanks to its traditional French approach to dressmaking.

It’s about time for an interview with Céline Prost!

Would you mind introducing yourself and your brand to our readers?

I am Céline Prost the founder of Je suis en CP! It is a 0 to 12 years french brand for kids clothes. The brand is recognizable by its prints choices and fabrics mix and matches.

Where does the name Je suis en CP! originate from?

This is a game of word on my initials (CP) and a statement of childhood. That means literally “I am in first grade ! ” and that also mean that the childhood is timeless.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background? How did you become a kids fashion designer?

I started to study Chemistry but I always wanted to be a designer. Right after my degree I started new studies at La Chambre syndicale de la couture. I first worked at a wedding dresses company and 4 years after, in 2009, I created Je suis en CP !.

What are the inspirations or motivations behind your design?

I love to put something hide in each garment. Some details to find, like a treasure hunt. I like simple shapes, often with a couture approach but adapted to a kid’s life.

Do you have children? How does that influence your work?

I have two boys (4 and 8 years). They influence my work a lot when I look at them moving, running and jumping. I also design a lot of dresses for my imaginary girl !

What are some essentials that every child should have in their closet?

For boys, a jeans of course and nice sneakers, for girls, I imagine a pretty dress, a legging and tons of tights !

What are the most rewarding and most challenging aspects of your job?

The most challenging is that work never stops. We have almost finished a collection and it is already time to make the new one ! The most rewarding is to see my clothes in my customers shops and of course, on the kids.

If one of our readers is in your city,Paris, for 24 hours. What one thing would you recommend they do?

Well I recommend to take a breakfast at Klaus, then walk in the Palais Royal and Tuileries. I really love to shop in the neighborhood of la rue Montorgueil and all its covert street such as “le passage du grand cerf”. To finish beautifully, have a drink or a diner at Georges (on the roof top of the Georges Pompidou center) to admire the most stunning view of Paris.
