Don’t you think it’s not really fair that soldiers often have to lie down on a plate? They look sad and already lost before battling with an egg.
Good soldiers need royal horses and a tasty egg needs to be in a humble castle. Takea Mizutani provided something where they should be and he thinks they look much happier and more comfortable in them.
Takae Mizutani and sons was established in London in 2007 by Takae with the help of her two cats Mooks & Guiness. Their aim is to create products that bring a little smile to people’s faces. You’ll find that these creations often remind you of nostalgic childhood memories and childlike naivety. Inspiration comes from simple questions such as “why can soldiers not have their own stand?” They love simple ideas which give you endless imagination… and spread the smile!

In this household we strongly believe boiled eggs and soldiers are one of the best things ever. Whether you like them hard-boiled or soft-boiled, it’s easy to get your eggs just right simply by varying the cooking time. A good tip to remember is that if you add a small pinch of salt to the water it will help to prevent the eggs cracking.
Ingredients
sea salt
4 large eggs, preferably free-range or organic
4 slices of bread
butter, to serve
To cook your eggs
Cook for the following time, deping on how you like your eggs (we like them runny): 5 minutes for runny, 7 minutes for semi-ferm, 9 minutes for hard-boiled.
Put your bread on to toast a few minutes before your eggs are ready
Bon Appetit!
