DONNA WILSON

Looking for colourful, quirky creatures and handmade designs for a kids’ room? Look no further than textiles designer Donna Wilson. Her distinctive style is what lead her to be crowned ‘Designer of the year’ at Elle Decorations British Design Awards in 2010.

Donna set up her company in 2003 after making odd knitted creatures for her final show at the Royal College of art. The creatures sold out and since then she has built her business designing and making a collection of products for the home. Cushions, blankets, gloves & mittens, hot water bottles and more. Originally from Scotland, Donna runs a studio and workshops in London.

Donna’s knitted creatures are inspired by the everyday oddities and deformities of life. She likes to think of each of them as a character in her very own wonderland. Donna Wilson’s studio prides itself on keeping the production of all products to handmade and UK based, allowing the end product to be unique and have its very own character.

This year Donna put together a Kids Activity book called Creative Creatures. Learn how to make things like banana bunting, owl kites, a sausage-dog draught excluder, a sock monster and many more wonderfully kooky designs that will be loved by all the family.
