The wait is finally over, Children of the tribe have launched their very first SWIM collection.
The range, which incorporates playful prints, the sweetest of florals and some seriously stylish rash vests, is available exclusively on their website.
The campaign was shot by award-winning surf, lifestyle and travel photographer Ming Nomchong at a beach outside of Byron Bay in Northern New South Wales, Australia, and was a dream come true for Children of the Tribe’s founder and creative director, Emma McClean.
She took time out to chat about the inspiration behind the collection and bringing her long-time dream to life.
You are known for creating stylish, quality pieces for free-spirited little people. Why did you decide to launch your first SWIM collection?
We live in Byron Bay and our daughters are in swim for nine months of the year. I found it difficult to find swimwear that was really pretty but also really practical for ocean swims, playing in the pool and climbing trees.
Our girls have been testing the designs for the last six months and I am confident the pieces are not only beautiful but also practical and of the highest quality.
They say never to work with kids or animals but you did both for this campaign! What was the inspiration behind this shoot?
I had this image that I have had saved for over four years of a little boy bareback on a horse half submerged; my thoughts wants from there.
Horses are apparently most playful when in the water and I thought it was a great mix – girls riding bareback and matching the prints. It was a dream come true!
How many different styles or in the range?
The SWIM collection comprises of four styles of baby bloomers, three one-piece swimsuits, three short-sleeve rashies and three long-sleeve rashies.
Is this a one-off?
No. From now on, swim will feature in every collection.
