ONLINE ADVENT CALENDAR DAY 13 – SEW HEART FELT sponsored by Les Casse Pieds
Such cute little animal slippers from Sew Heart Felt have quite a tale behind them! The felt is hand made in Kathmandu by women demonstrating skills handed down over many generations. The wool that forms the felt is brought across the Himalayas from Tibet. Delicately sewn features and non-slip, suede soles mean little nippers won’t topple over, even on smooth and polished floors.
Designer Sonia Spencer works from her Oxfordshire farmhouse, where she lives with her family and a gang of furry friends who provide the inspiration for new creations. Ideas are sketched, patterns made and samples stitched before being sent off to the talented women who skilfully bring the ideas to life.
The techie bit: Each pair is shaped by hand from organic Tibetan wool, using only soap, water and hand pressure. They are then left to dry in the warm Nepalese sun. Chemical-free with eco friendly dyes. Comes in an organic cotton, draw string pouch.
Winning The Gift Association’s “Gift of the Year” Award for the Eco Friendly category for the second year running, these are gifts any child will treasure.
The slippers come in a couple of sizes: A European size 16-18 or 11 cm (which fits up to about 9-12 months) and a European size 19-21 or 13 cm (which will extend up until about 18 months to 2 years of age). Some of the Sew Heart Felt Slippers that are available at Les Casse Pieds are available in size 3-4 and 4-5 years old as well.
