CHIC FRIDAY FAIRMONT AMMAN

Brunch. It’s an odd word isn’t it? A portmanteau between Breakfast and Lunch. For me it was always something foot-loose-and-fancy-free people did at the weekend because they’ve slept in late. In Paris you could find a swish looking street cafe and have your eggs still done any which way you like until around 3pm.

Obviously different countries have different definitions, but here in Amman, Jordan, it’s really something special.

You see not only is Friday our Sunday but brunch is really a fancy way of saying gastronomically amazing 4-hour multi-course lunch – at some of the most prestige hotels in the world.

For many it’s the highlight of the week’s social calendar where people dress up and really embrace the occasion.

However don’t be mistaken this is an adults only game; with a little preparation and flexibility brunching can most definitely be a family occasion.

The newest addition to the Brunch circuit here in Amman is the magnificent Fairmont. A brand new luxurious five-star hotel with an equally prestigious address near Amman’s 5th circle.  Centrally located within walking distance of some of the city’s most affluent neighborhoods and within 30 minutes of the Queen Alia International Airport (it’s also a mere 5-minute drive from the brand new Abdali downtown urban center).

The hotel features a contemporary design from award-winning Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) design, and a landmark in the city’s glitziest neighbourhood and the Fairmont Amman offers a range of exceptional venues, with a diverse range of gastronomical experiences from across the globe to meet the unique tastes of every guest.

Last month we were invited to Chic Friday, a gastronomical buffet featuring dishes from their very own venues: Crystal, Nur, Caprice, Salt, Tsuki, Nasim and Lumi.

Luckily for those who’d rather be playing than sitting at a table for four hours while mum and dad let their hair down, there is a fully supervised Kids buffet set up with a bouncy castle as well as group activities that include games, face painting, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, and much more!

Alexander and Cicily had a great time and so did we.

Perhaps we’ll see you there this Friday, the 24th of November?
