For children, the importance of play is undeniable. It strengthens connections between brain cells, allows them to experiment, to test theories, develop self-regulation, and learn social skills like empathy. Play is also the birthplace of creativity — where children sprout new ideas.
As you might know, Emily and I love to encourage children to get outside and play!
We believe that traditional street play (Yes, even in Autumn / Winter!) is good and fun for children because it allows them to figure out how to use their environment in creative ways on their own, or maybe with the help of adults who are doing their own socializing on the street. And let’s not forget about the fresh air although in some big cities that’s not always the case…
